Diamonds
When it comes to diamonds, always remember the four C's. These four grading areas can drastically affect the quality of a diamond.

CUT
Depending on how a diamond is cut, it has the largest impact on how much a diamond will give you that beautiful sparkle. The cut refers to the shape of the diamond, it's proportians, symmetry and polish. The higher the grade, the greater the stone's brillance and has a direct impact on these 3 effects:

Brillance: The amount of light reflected in the stone.
Fire: The dispersion of light into the colors of the spectrum.
Scintillation: The pattern of light and dark areas and the flashes of light when a diamond is moved.

cOLOR
We all know that the best diamonds are the ones lacking the most color. The whiter the diamond, the higher it's value. GIA calls this "colorlessness" and rates this on a alphabetical scale from D to Z that is the industry standard across the board.

It's safe to say that colorless diamonds are incredibly rare, and most stores and shops work with nearly colorless stones.

CARAT
We all know this one, baby! It's all in the size in our eyes. Carat refers to the total weight of the diamond, not the demensional size. One carat is equal to 200 miligrams or 0.2 of a gram. For diamonds that are under 1 carat, each carat is divived into 100 points.
Clarity
Due to the nature of how diamonds are created, the high pressure atsmosphere sometimes creates unique imperfections called inclusions (internal) or blemishes (external). To find a diamond without one or the other is rare, as most diamonds have small inclusions. This is what really helps gemologists sperate natural diamonds fro synthetic diamonds.

The industry works on the GIA Clarity Scale below.

Yellow Gold: Pure gold mixed with a bit of silver and copper.
White Gold: Pure gold mixed with palladium and silver, or with nickel, copper and zinc.
